The DCA’s Social Entrepreneurship and Economic Development (SEED) capital loan project provides loans to high potential small and medium enterprises.
There are two types of loans offered:
- Equipment loan provides interest-free loans to small businesses to purchase equipment that enables more efficient production of products and services. Repayment of the loan is in the form of products, services and vocational training.
- Working capital loan provides low-interest loans to small businesses to purchase inventory, supplies and materials and hire labor to produce products and provide services. Repayment of the loan is by donating products, providing vocational training, or creating jobs in the equivalent value of the loan.
We also provide business development training in groups, as well as, one-on-one consulting sessions to entrepreneurs to improve their business knowledge and skills.
SEED also plays a role in providing social entrepreneurship training for youths participating in HIPE and offering two intern positions to HIPE university students who wish to expand their knowledge and gain real-life experience in business and economic development. Typically, these students are currently majoring in business or something related, though that is not required to apply for the internship position.
