Design Capital Asia

The foundation of every state is the education of its youth.

Diogenes Laertius

Design is a tool to address poverty. Capital is financial, human, and social resources.

Design Capital Asia (DCA) is a non-profit and non-governmental organization that deliberately and purposely uses financial, human, and social capital to alleviate poverty in and with the communities it serves.

DCA empowers and trains youth to become healthy and resilient, develops and invests in small businesses to become social entrepreneurs, and mobilizes and engages communities to strengthen environmental and developmental sustainability for themselves.

Our mission is to empower people to contribute to the alleviation of poverty.

We are committed to take on the challenges of tackling poverty eradication.

We envision a world with prosperous, healthy, and green communities.

We, together with local and global development experts and partners, government representatives, and community stakeholders, are committed to stand by and work with the people of impoverished communities to turn despair into hope for a bright future for themselves and for generations to come.

OUR PRINCIPLES

In whatever we do, we hold the principles of empowerment and self-reliance, collaboration and community engagement, impact and innovation, sustainability, and replication and scalability

Using integrated social, health, education, and economic development approaches to address the root-cause of poverty and sustainable change, Design Capital Asia (DCA) is a non-profit and non-governmental organization that deliberately and purposely uses financial, human, and social capital to alleviate poverty in and with the communities. The organization empowers and trains youth to become healthy and resilient, develops and invests in small businesses to become social entrepreneurs, and mobilizes and engages communities to strengthen environmental sustainability.

Empowerment and self-reliance

The most effective way to fight poverty is to empower people to become self-reliant through skill development, economic development, and gaining access to the world’s market.  Equally important is the mobilization of communities and businesses to develop an infrastructure of resources for poor individuals and families to become economically self-sufficient. By being more self-reliant, they can pass on their skills to other villagers.

Collaboration and community engagement

We collaborate internally and externally to bring together government leaders, NGOs, and businesses in partnerships that harness each group unique expertise and resources. We engage community leaders and members to respond to local needs and to build local capacity and leadership in the communities.

Impact and innovation

We make measurable results and impact on people’s lives. We drive the innovation of individuals, businesses, and communities to develop new approaches that respond to local social, education, health, and economic needs. We identify local talent and connect them with experts and match local producers and service providers with national and international markets.

Sustainability

We are conscious to ensure projects can be continued by local communities after the projects are completed.

Replication and scalability

We ensure that projects can be replicated and expanded by organizations, governments, and individuals to address their own specific challenges.

Priority populations

We focus on populations with the greatest needs and highest potential impact.

Our priority populations are youth, women and girls, and ethnic minority communities.

Priority geographical area

About 70% of Vietnam’s population lives in rural communities or villages.

Our priority geographical area is rural and remote communities.
